New Year = New You, right? You’ll go to the gym more. Love more. Clean your house more. Be more adventurous.
What about your business? Did you make New Year’s resolutions for your business? Be more active on social media. Take more webinars. Engage with your customers more. Boost your sales. Increase your marketing efforts.
As we settle into 2019, there are a few marketing tips you should be sure to include in your marketing efforts this year - and, remember, it’s not too late to make a New Year’s resolution for your business!
You may not like the idea of putting your face out there. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve heard, “I hate seeing my face on screen. Can’t we just put some graphics up?” But, your audience is tired of businesses hiding behind logos and graphics. They want to hear from YOU. So, make 2019 the year you start a blog (or increase the amount you post on your already existing blog), do a podcast, or add video to your marketing efforts.
WHEN YOU SPEAK TO EVERYONE, YOU SPEAK TO NO ONE
It can be easy to think, “Well, what if this person sees my post? I don’t want him/her to feel left out!” Instead of making one watered down post that generally sort of kind of maybe might resonate a little bit with a broad range of people, create multiple communications that are more specifically targeted to different segments of your audience. Think about it this way: if you were having a conversation on the phone about a date that you had last night, you probably wouldn’t talk exactly the same way to your best friend as you would to your grandma, would you? So, why would you market to them the same way?
IT’S ALL ABOUT TRUST
Without getting too political here, current tensions regarding what people believe they can trust and what they can’t are pretty high. So, if your audience smells even a hint that you might not be telling them the truth or that you’re omitting a piece of important information, they’ll run far, far away… or worse, write a bad review.
I know, right? Trust the videographer to tell you how important video is; but, it’s true. And, since I just told you how important trust is, I have stats to back it up. Cisco projects that by 2021 (just two years away… how did THAT happen?!) 80% of all internet traffic will be from video. Additionally, Forbes says that 65% of executives have visited a vendor’s site after watching a video. Furthermore, you’re 53X more likely to show up on the first page of a Google search if you have video embedded in your website.
