4X AS MANY CONSUMERS WOULD RATHER WATCH A VIDEO ABOUT A PRODUCT THAN READ ABOUT IT - ANIMOTO
You’re looking for fun things to do this summer. What’s going to get you more excited when you first start looking - an article about a local festival, or a video showing you what it’s like to be at the festival?
We live in a visual world, an insta-world. While an article is great to have for detailed information, a promotional video will peak people’s interest much faster initially. That’s something fairs & festivals especially can use to their advantage.
HOW DOES VIDEO FIT INTO YOUR ORGANIZATION’S MARKETING EFFORTS? IN THIS 6-PART IN-DEPTH SERIES, I’LL EXPLAIN HOW VIDEO CAN BE USED AS A TOOL IN THE MARKETING STRATEGY OF 6 DIFFERENT TYPES OF ORGANIZATIONS: NONPROFITS, SALONS, FAIRS & FESTIVALS, RESTAURANTS, WINERIES, AND INSURANCE AGENCIES.
GET PEOPLE EXCITED FOR THIS YEAR
As someone who has helped plan large events, I know one of the biggest questions asked during the planning process is, “How do we get people excited about this?” In my completely unbiased (ok, a little biased, but also backed up by fact) opinion, releasing a promo video is a great way to start.
Video will encourage your fans who are familiar with you share your event with their friends who may not be familiar with it. After all, according to Wyzolw, 76% of people will share a branded video with their friends if it’s entertaining.
So, how to make the video entertaining: it can’t just be a slideshow of photos from last year. It needs to really pop and show the atmosphere of your event, exhibit the various things that go on at your festival, and display people having fun in a creative manner.
MAKE PEOPLE WISH THEY WERE THERE
If you have a multi-day festival that people can attend at any point, make your fans wish they were there once it’s started by showing them what they’re missing out on! Instead of simply making a post that says, '“Don’t forget to come see us this weekend” you should have a video to relay the message. Why? Because, according to Locowise, organic Facebook engagement is highest on posts with videos. If you want to reach your audience, use a video.
Some fun videos you could use to peak your audience’s interest are drone videos if you have large grounds or a “We love coming here because…” collection of testimonials from people who are currently at the festival. Both would take minimal editing effort and could be completed quickly.
CREATE A BUZZ FOR NEXT YEAR
After your event is over, take a breath and then start thinking about next year. Releasing a fast-paced, upbeat highlight video that ends with “We Can’t Wait to See You Next Year” or “See You in 20__” is a great way to get your fans psyched for next year’s event. After all, they’re still thinking about how much fun they just had and you’re already telling them about next year!
If you do this and keep you video content coming throughout the year by releasing a couple of highlight videos through the year, you will likely see an increase in your engagement because, according to the Content Marketing Institute, adding video to your social feeds means audiences are 10X more likely to engage with and share your posts.
